Exercise is now an effective option to other depression treatment methods. The outcomes from research reinforce the concept that exercise improves mood in individuals having mild to moderate depression.

By looking at the outcomes from 51 different studies, it was shown that a small but significant boost in self esteem was linked to the lessening of depression symptoms.  As more studies are being performed, researchers are theorizing that exercise may perhaps elevate serotonin levels sufficiently to relieve depression.
